AICC incharge of AP affairs Veerappa Moily has poured water on the aspirations of several Congress MLAs for a berth in the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Cabinet.
Moily said on Wednesday that there would not be any expansion of YSR cabinet and that all the Congress MLAs should concentrate on strengthening the party in their respective constituencies, rather than lobbying for ministerial posts. This has dampened the spirits of several MLAs, who were hoping that they would be able to enjoy the Cabinet positions at least for a few months.
What does Moily's statement indicate? Party sources say the Congress high command is contemplating advancing of general elections by six months, which means they could be held by this year end. Along with Lok Sabha elections, elections to State Assembly also could be advanced. So, there is no point in expanding Cabinet for the sake of it, sources say.
