Babu Supports Kaka on Telangana issue
Former chief minister and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu is unhappy these days. Not because his Telugu Desam is bogged down with internal fighting and dissidence. But because senior Congress leader and former Union minister G Venkataswamy, popularly known as Kaka, has been "humiliated" by none other than AICC chief Sonia Gandhi.
When Kaka led a delegation of Telangana Congress leaders to Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi, the delegation did not get appointment. The T leaders had to return empty handed. Chandrababu Naidu now says that Venkataswamy, also the Congress Working Committee member, was humiliated in New Delhi for the simple reason that he is a Telugu personality.
"Former chief minister and Telugu Desam founder NT Rama Rao launched the Telugu Desam after he noticed that then chief minister T Anjaiah was humiliated. Rama Rao talked of the Telugu pride and self-respect. The TD will not tolerate any sort of humiliation to Telugus by others," Chandrababu Naidu said stunning everyone including Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
But no one knows why Chandrababu Naidu has developed love towards Kaka so suddenly. There was no provocation from the Congress side and yet Kaka has emerged as the favorite leader for Chandrababu Naidu, after NT Rama Rao.
What Chandrababu Naidu has failed to realize is that by supporting Venkataswamy, he is indirectly supporting the cause of Telangana. Chandrababu Naidu is dead against separate Telangana. And yet supports Venkataswamy. This is but common in politics, particularly Telugu Desam's strategic politics.
Chandrababu Naidu is now the man with many tongues and many brains.
