Who is this Reddy?

With chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy hailing from Kadapa, those from his district are naturally inclined to call the shots. Take the case of K S Jawahar Reddy, an IAS officer of the 1990 batch and currently managing director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. Claiming critical financial position, Jawahar has stopped the salaries of at least 40 top officials of the board. It turns out that the babu is a Kadapa Reddy, hailing from Pulivendula region which falls under YSR’s assembly constituency.
The grapevine has it that Jawahar should have made it to the chief minister’s office, but was pipped to the powerful peshi by K Prabhakar Reddy, another Kadapa Reddy. Jawahar has served as collector of Srikakulam and East Godavari and is described by his colleagues as ‘non-controversial but nobody extraordinary.’
