Chandrababu's False Claims On Airport
Former chief minister and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu claims that the new airport at Shamshabad near Hyderabad was his brainchild. And since the government is a continuous process, the Congress government had just completed the project which was taken up by the previous Telugu Desam government he had headed.
Not many know that the airport was actually conceived about eight years ago. The work began only three years ago. Of the eight years, the Telugu Desam was in power for four years. The project remained on paper and it did not move even an inch. It was only after the Congress came to power that things started moving. It took pace and was completed in just three years, six months ahead of schedule. It is really an achievement as far as the Congress government is concerned. Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy has translated a paper airport into a real airport. The credit goes to him alone, says scholars and analysts.
But now Chandrababu Naidu claims credit for the airport. Though he was reportedly extended an invitation by the State government to participate in the official calibration tests at the new airport, he chose to stay away. According to sources, Chandrababu Naidu will not participate even in the inaugural function to be presided over by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. If Chandrababu Naidu really thinks that the new airport was his brain child, he would have participated in the trial run and would proudly announce of his participation in the official inaugural function. Lack of Magnanimity, after all, is what matters in politics.
